§ MR. FIELDI beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland will he explain why, seeing that the first list of Griffith's valuation for Belfast in the year 1860 was printed and published by the Government in one volume, which could be obtained by the ratepayers, that precedent has not been followed on the present occasion of a new valuation, and will he order the publication in a similar way of the present valuation lists for that city.
§ MR. WYNDHAMTo have printed the lists would have involved a year's delay, and would have entailed considerable expense without compensating advantages. If the lists are to be printed, it should be after the appeals are heard.
§ MR. FIELDThen how are the people whose valuations have been enormously raised to know it has been done?
§ MR. WYNDHAMThe lists are open for inspection, and ample steps have been taken to ensure publicity.
