HC Deb 29 April 1901 vol 93 c35
MR. SWIFT MACNEILL

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War whether the despatch of Lord Roberts, dated 28th February, as now published contains everything he originally wrote with reference to the management of the troops when under Lord Kitchener's command on the first day of the engagement at Paardeberg; whether Lord Roberts's account of that engagement is included in its entirety in the despatch now published or is continued in cablegrams, letters, and memoranda not published; and, if so, having regard to the fact that in that engagement no fewer than 200 officers and men were killed and nearly 1,000 wounded, will Lord Roberts's full account of the incidents of the day be published.

MR. BRODRICK

The despatch published contains all that Lord Roberts originally wrote as to the engagement at Paardeberg.
