HC Deb 29 April 1901 vol 93 cc70-1
MR. THOMAS O'DONNELL

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether the Commissioners of Intermediate Education in Ireland intend to increase the marks for Irish in their programme for next year, so as to place it on a position of equality with English.

MR. WYNDHAM

The programme for next year is still under consideration by the Commissioners. I am not, therefore, at present in a position to reply.

MR. JOHN REDMOND (Waterford)

Can the right hon. Gentleman give us any idea when it will be published? Will it be before the Education Estimate is taken?

MR. WYNDHAM

I hope at an early date. The delay is due to the fact that the Board is in communication with regard to the appointment of additional inspectors, and it will be impossible to publish the programme till that question is settled, which I hope will be in a week or ten days.
