§ MR. O'SHAUGHNESSY (Limerick, W.)I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland if he can say when the Provisional Order legalising the system of direct labour on the roads in Ireland will become law, so that the county councils in the country may be in a position to work the roads under the said system.
§ MR. WYNDHAMThe final draft of the Provisional Order is now under consideration, and the Order will be laid before Parliament within the next fortnight. The delay is due to the fact that county and district councils have been given an opportunity of expressing their opinions upon the draft Order.
§ MR. O'SHAUGHNESSYWill the right hon. Gentleman allow the House to discuss this Order before it is confirmed?
§ MR. WYNDHAMA question of that kind should be addressed to the Leader of the House. I am following the usual course in laying the Order on the Table, 926 and no doubt there will be adequate opportunity of discussing it.
