§ MR. HERBERT LEWIS (Flint Boroughs)I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury, seeing that it has been the practice to introduce a Land Tax Commissioners Names Bill in the course of each Parliament, and that (except in the case of the last Parliament) it has been the practice to introduce the Bill during the first session 791 of Parliament, whether a Land Tax Commissioners' Names Bill will be introduced during the present session.
§ THE FIRST LORD OF THE TREASURY (Mr. A. J. BALFOUR,) Manchester, E.I understand the hon. Gentleman is mistaken in supposing that it has been the practice to pass this Bill in the first session of a new Parliament, and I am told that it is not necessary.
§ MR. HERBERT LEWISTo introduce it?
§ MR. A. J. BALFOURI see no object in introducing the Bill if it is not to pass.
§ MR. CHANNING (Northamptonshire, E.)A great deal of interest is taken in this question, and I have received several communications on it within the last few days.
§ MR. A. J. BALFOURNo evidence has come before me showing that there is great interest.
