§ LORD BALCARRES (Lancashire, Chorley)I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that certain battalions of the Manchester Volunteer Regiment to be encamped on Salisbury Plain only receive a travelling allowance of 8s. per head, 1494 whereas the journey costs 13s.; and whether, in view of the- fact that this entails an additional cost of £250 to each battalion of 1,000 men, he can make a special grant towards the travelling expenses.
