HC Deb 25 May 1900 vol 83 cc1295-6
MR. M'CARTAN (Down, S.)

I beg to ask the President of the Board of Agriculture whether his attention has been called to the suggested amendments to the Dogs Regulation Bill, No. 125, by the Council of the Associated Petty Sessions Clerks of Ireland; whether he is aware that out of 11,606 licences issued in the city of Belfast in March, 1900, 3,000 of them were applied for on the 31st March, being the last day for registration, and three offices were open in Belfast during that day and six persons engaged in the work of registration there, and that most of the applicants were detained for upwards of an hour each awaiting their turn; and if he will take into consideration the suggested amendments made by this council before asking this House to adopt the Bill.

* THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF AGRICULTURE (Mr. LONG,) Liverpool, West Derby

Yes, I have received representations from the Council of the Associated Petty Sessions Clerks of Ireland on the subject to which the hon. Member refers, and have communicated them to my right hon. friend the Chief Secretary, with whom I am to discuss the questions raised before the Bill goes into Committee.
