HC Deb 24 May 1900 vol 83 c1089
MR. WILLIAM JOHNSTON (Belfast, S.)

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury whether he will consider the desirability of now advising the appointment of a public national thanksgiving day, with suitable form of prayer, in acknowledgment of God's deliverances vouchsafed to so many of the subjects of the Queen in Her Majesty's South African dominions.

THE FIRST LORD OF THE TREASURY (Mr. A. J. BALFOUR, Manchester, E.)

I have referred my hon. friend's question to the Prime Minister, and he informs me that the matter will be taken into consideration later on.
