MR. PATRICK O'BRIENI beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury, as representing the Postmaster General, what are the objections to postmen who desire promotion being afforded opportunities of learning sorting and telegraphy duties in their own time.
§ MR. HANBURYThere is no objection to this course in any office where it can be allowed without inconvenience to the service. As a matter of fact, in London most postmen are trained in sorting, but none have applied to learn telegraphy, so far as can be ascertained.
MR. PATRICK O'BRIENIs the right hon. Gentleman aware that these facilities have been denied men in the case of the Limerick office?
§ MR. HANBURYNo, Sir, I am not.
