HC Deb 10 May 1900 vol 82 c1244
MR. HEDDERWICK

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Colonies, whether trade licences other than those for the sale of ammunition and spirits in the Protectorate of Sierra Leone have been abolished as recommended by the Sierra Leone Chamber of Commerce in 1898; and whether any tax corresponding or equivalent to the hut tax in the Protectorate has yet been imposed upon the colony of Sierra Leone.

MR. J. CHAMBERLAIN

The trade licences referred to have not been abolished. An Ordinance to impose a house tax in the colony has been passed.
