BRODRICKThe amount disbursed by the Crown agents up to the 6th May, in meeting expenditure here and providing for the bills drawn on them by the chief engineer, is £3,132,775; but as the accounts from East Africa are, of necessity, some weeks in arrear, it is impossible to state, without communicating with the chief engineer, how much of the above amount remains in his hands. The value of stores in hand or en route, on 30th April, was about £250,000.
