HC Deb 03 May 1900 vol 82 c583
MR. HARWOOD (Bolton)

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Admiralty whether experiments are being made in submarine boats by our own authorities, and whether a careful watch is being kept upon such experiments as are being made by foreign nations.

MR. GOSCHEN

Experiments have not been made in submarine boats by our own authorities, but the most careful and consecutive watch is being kept upon such experiments as are being made by foreign nations.

MR. GIBSON BOWLES (Lynn Regis)

Will the right hon. Gentleman consider the propriety of making these experiments?

MR. GOSCHEN

Yes, Sir, I have considered the propriety of doing so.
