MR. NEWDIGATE (Warwickshire, Nuneaton)I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that many of the troops serving in Natal have not yet received comforts sent them from this country months ago, and what is the reason of the delay; and whether he is aware that members of the Naval Brigade serving on H.M.S. "Terrible," which has recently been transferred from Natal to the Chinese station, have hitherto received none of the comforts sent them from home, and whether he will take steps to have these comforts forwarded on to them.
§ MR. WYNDHAMI must refer my hon. friend to my reply to a question put by the Member for Stoke-upon-Trent on the 16th inst.* I have received a letter from Mr. Gatliff, in which he informs me that he has been actively engaged in expediting this matter in Natal.
