HC Deb 19 March 1900 vol 80 c1198
MR. PATRICK O'BRIEN

I beg to ask Mr. Attorney General for Ireland whether powers are given in the Local Government (Ireland) Act to rural district councils to purchase or lease the rights of collecting tolls for markets and fairs held by certain landlords, and to change the dates for existing fairs and markets, and to establish new ones; and whether the powers go to the extent of compelling a landlord to sell.

MR. ATKINSON

The reply to both paragraphs of the question is in the negative.
