HC Deb 16 March 1900 vol 80 c1068
MR. CALDWELL (Lanarkshire, Mid)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he can now state the total British costs arising out of the Venezuelan Arbitration, and whether it is proposed that these costs should be defrayed or reimbursed by British Guiana.

*MR. BRODRICK

Perhaps I may be allowed to answer this. The expenses incurred between 1895 and the present date amount to £65,625. There has never been any proposal that British Guiana should defray any part of the costs.
