HC Deb 12 March 1900 vol 80 cc596-7
MR. JAMES O'CONNOR (Wicklow, W.)

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury it he will signalise Her Majesty's visit to Ireland by introducing, during the present session, a Bill to repeal the Irish Coercion Act of 1887.

MR. A. J. BALFOUR

No part of Ireland is at present proclaimed under the Crimes Act, as the House and hon. Members are perhaps aware.

MR. JAMES O'CONNOR

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that the Crimes Act does exist, and is at the disposal of the Lord Lieutenant?

MR. A. J. BALFOUR

That is true.

MR. JAMES O'CONNOR

And that's the point of my question.
