§ SIR THOMAS ESMONDEI beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland if steps will be taken in connection with the census in Ireland to obtain the same information with regard to the Irish language as is proposed to be obtained concerning the native language in Scotland and in Wales in the Census Bill.
§ MR. ATKINSON (for Mr. G. W. BALFOUR)If the hon. Gentleman will refer to the Returns of the last census in Ireland he will observe that the information mentioned in this question was obtained and published. There is no intention to depart from the practice on the occasion of the next census.
