§ MR. HAZELLI beg to ask the President of the Local Government Board whether he can explain the causes of the delay on the part of his Department in issuing reglations based upon the recommendations of the Committee on Workhouse Dietaries in the year 1898; and whether he is able to name the date when such regulations will be issued.
§ MR. CHAPLINI am afraid there has been some delay in this matter, but it is not quite so simple as it might seem at first sight. The delay has been mainly caused by the great care that has been requisite in framing the model dietary scales which the Committee recommended should be issued. I am unable to name the date when the regulations will be ready, but they are being pressed forward, and there will be no avoidable delay in their issue.
