§ MR. HENNIKER HEATON () CanterburyI beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury, as representing the Postmaster General, whether he will take steps to extend the system of insurance of parcels to those parcels sent per parcel post to Cape Colony.
§ MR. HANBURYThe Postmaster General has already taken such steps as are possible; but, the colony not being yet prepared for the scheme, it cannot be carried out at present. So soon as the Cape Post Office is empowered by colonial legislation to accept the principle of responsibility for loss, the system of insurance can be applied without any delay so far as the Imperial Post Office is concerned.
