§ CAPTAIN NORTON () Newington, W.I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for War whether the War Office authorities will so far relax the rule laid down for the employment of members of Volunteer companies with their Line battalions at the front as to allow of a Volunteer within a month or two of reaching his twentieth year, and otherwise eligible, being so employed; and whether, in the event of a Volunteer having previously served in the Regulars, and not having completed two years service with the Volunteers, he may be permitted to serve with the unit of his Volunteer battalion in South Africa.
