HC Deb 29 June 1900 vol 85 c70
MR. WILLIAM REDMOND (Clare, E.)

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for War how many Colonial troops in South Africa are having as much as 5s. a day in pay and allowances, and why a difference is made in the rate of pay between British and Colonial troops.

*MR. WYNDHAM

The number is about 22,000. The question was fully discussed on the 1st of February in debate.†

MR. WILLIAM REDMOND

Cannot the hon. Gentleman give me an answer to the question on the Paper?

*MR. WYNDHAM

I have said the question was fully discussed in Committee of Supply, and it is impossible to reduce the discussion to the limits of an answer to a question.
