§ MR. WILLIAM REDMONDI beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether he has received any complaints as to the delays which have occurred in fixing rents in Clare, and whether he will cause inquiry to be made as to the working of the Land Act in that county.
§ MR. G. W. BALFOURI am not aware that any complaints have been received of the nature mentioned in the question. I am informed that a sub-commission has been continuously at work in disposing of applications to fix fair rents in Clare during the past two years, and that a considerable number of additional cases from the county have been listed for hearing before a sub-commission which will commence its sittings on Friday next. The reply to the second part of the question is in the negative.
