HC Deb 17 July 1900 vol 86 c235
MR. BILLSON (Halifax)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will instruct sheriffs and coroners and their subordinates to omit from the list of persons liable to be summoned as jurymen all persons who have previously been excused from service on juries by reason of deafness or other physical defects; and whether it is the intention of the Government to bring in a Bill to remunerate common as well as grand jurymen.

MR. JESSE COLLINGS (for Sir M. WHITE RIDLEY)

The Secretary of State has no authority to issue instructions of the nature indicated. The answer to the second paragraph is in the negative.
