WASON (Clackmannan and Kinross)I beg to ask the Lord Advocate whether he has any funds at his disposal out of which he can make compensation to the salmon fishermen who have been prevented by the recent decision in the House of Lords from carrying on the drift net fishing in the River Forth, which has been practised from time immemorial.

Member will refer to the Fishery Board's Annual Report for 1889, Part II., he will find that it is not correct to say that drift net fishing has been practised in the River Forth from time immemorial. I may add that the Secretary for Scotland has no funds at his disposal for any such purpose as is referred to in the question.
