HC Deb 10 July 1900 vol 85 cc1117-8
MR. GIBSON BOWLES

I beg to ask Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer, does he propose to proceed with the motion for the Second Reading of the Savings Banks and Friendly Societies Bill, which substitutes a varying rate of interest for the fixed rates now payable by law to the depositors in Post Office Savings Banks; and, if so, can he say on what day the Second Reading debate will be taken.

THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER (Sir M. HICKS BEACH,) Bristol, W.

I am not in a position to say at present.
