§ CAPTAIN NORTONI beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for War if he can state whether as many as eighty civilian veterinary surgeons have been engaged by the military authorities since the outbreak of the war in South Africa r whether any commission has been gazetted in the Army Veterinary Department for nearly a, year; and whether there are now twelve vacancies for which there are no candidates; and, under those circumstances, will he consider the advisability of meeting the wishes of the officers of the Army Veterinary Department by placing them on the same footing as regards military titles with all other non-combatant branches of the service.
