Member for the Stretford Division of Lancashire, I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for War whether the War Office have recently let tenders for 10,000 iron camp bedsteads, with the stipulation that the same be manufactured in conformity with War Office pattern which dates back to 1808; and whether the latest type of single bedstead with wire mattress and wood frame was offered but refused.
MR. J. POWELL-WILLIAMSThe pattern of the camp bedstead in. use does not date from the year 1808 but is pattern No. 808, about five years old; 10,000 of this pattern have not been ordered, but orders have been placed for trade patterns of the latest types.
