HC Deb 16 February 1900 vol 79 cc218-9
SIR CHARLES CAMERON () Glasgow, Bridgeton

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury whether the pay and other expenses of the forces of the Colonies of Natal and Cape Colony employed in the war in South Africa are to be borne by these Colonies, or whether any undertaking has been given for their repayment in whole or part out of the Imperial Exchequer.

THE FIRST LORD OF THE TREASURY (Mr. A. J. BALFOUR,) Manchester, E.

The question of the ultimate incidence of the cost of the Colonial Volunteers must remain for subsequent consideration when the general question of the settlement of expenditure in connection with the war is under review.
