I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for War whether he will state what is the approximate amount per diem or per meal allowed to non-commissioned officers and privates when travelling by rail or by sea to join their respective regiments or depôts; and what is the amount per head allowed when travelling from stations in South Wales to Cork viâ Alilford steamer.

Where the journey by railway exceeds 150 miles sums varying from sixpence to 1s. 8d., according to distance, are allowed for subsistence. For the voyage form South Wales to Cork the allowance is 1s 4d.
