HC Deb 13 February 1900 vol 78 c1375
DR. AMBROSE (Mayo, W.)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether he is aware that there are several landlords in the neighbourhood of Westport, County Mayo, who are anxious to sell their estates to the Congested Districts Board; and if he can give any reasons why the Congested Districts Board will not purchase such estates.

MR. ATKINSON (for Mr. G. W. BALFOUR)

I am not aware what may be the views of landlords such as those referred to, save so far as they may be disclosed in confidential negotiations which may have passed between them and the Congested Districts Board. It would obviously be improper to disclose information so obtained.
