§ MR. KEARLEY (Devonport)I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for War what is the reason of the delay in paying compensation to George Smith, lately a plumber under the War Department, Devonport, who sustained severe injuries on the 28th April, 1899, whilst 1231 following his employment, by falling from the Raglan Barracks Clock Tower; and whether he is aware that the hurt pay he received for several months following the accident has now been discontinued.
* MR. J. POWELL-WILLIAMSGeorge Smith received full hurt pay until the 25th October. He has now been awarded a gratuity by the Treasury of £84 15s. 5d.
