HC Deb 09 February 1900 vol 78 c1044
MR. HEDDERWICK (Wick Burghs)

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for War how many fort guns were in Cape Colony and Natal prior to the outbreak of hostilities; what was their calibre and class; and whether any of them have been used in the present war.

* THE UNDER SECRETARY OF STATE FOR WAR (Mr. WYNDHAM,) Dover

None of the guns in the fortresses of Cape Colony and Natal which were there before the war have been used during the campaign. It is not in the public interest to state the armaments of these forts.
