§ MR. J. CHAMBERLAINIf this question refers to an interruption by me in the course of the speech of the hon. Member for the Bodmin Division of Cornwall I have to say that, on looking at the report of the debate, I find that I misunderstood the right hon. Gentleman and have to apologise accordingly. I thought he was referring to 1881. In 1885 there was great uneasiness in the Orange Free State, and her Majesty's Government were anxious as to the attitude of the burghers.
