HC Deb 01 February 1900 vol 78 c275
MR. RADCLIFFE COOKE

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for War whether he can state how many rifle ranges in Great Britain have been closed within the last ten years, and what steps the Government are taking to secure a sufficiency of ranges for the due instruction in rifle shooting of the defensive forces of the country.

* MR. WYNDHAM

A return of the ranges closed since 1890 was presented to the House in June last, and is printed as Sessional Paper 251. Since the date of that return one range has been closed and nineteen new ranges have been constructed or approved. Money is provided in the Military Works Loan for new ranges for Regulars and Militia; and Volunteers are assisted in acquiring ranges.
