HC Deb 01 February 1900 vol 78 c293
SIR G. ESMONDE (Kerry, West)

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury what steps the Government propose to take with reference to the Irish gold ornaments recently acquired by the British Museum.

MR. A. J. BALFOUR

There has been a most regrettable delay in connection with this matter. Up to the present time we have not obtained the decision of the English law officers upon certain special points submitted to them. I understand that that decision will soon be communicated to the Government, and as soon as it is communicated to the Government I shall be happy to inform the House on the matter.
