§ THE FIRST COMMISSIONER OF WORKS (Mr. AKERS DOUGLAS,) Kent, St. Augustine'sThe expenditure for which I am responsible is limited to the purchase and adaptation of Hertford House, and has amounted to £124,000. I am unable to give the cost of the 856 arranging and cleaning of the collection, as these matters were under the control of the trustees, who have been supplied with funds under a separate Vote for which the Treasury is responsible.
