SIR HOWARD VINCENTI beg to ask the Secretary of State for War if the condition of affairs in South Africa remains such as to postpone the return of the Volunteers, Imperial Yeomen, Militia, and married Reservists until far into the new year, whether he will consider the desirability of making a further appeal to the Volunteer force for drafts to take the place of such of the 10,000 members of that force still at the seat of war, who may find themselves compelled to take their discharge if possible, either by sickness, or the calls of their civil occupation in the United Kingdom.
