MACNAMARA (Camberwell, N.)I beg to ask the Vice-President of the Committee of Council on Education whether the Inter-Departmental Committee, consisting of representatives of the Home Office and of the Education Department, the calling together of which was suggested by the late Home Secretary and supported by the Vice-President of the Council in the Standing Committee on Law on 20th July, 1900, has been convened to consider the question of the out of school labour of school children; and, if so, when that Committee is likely to be in a position to report.
§ SIR JOHN GORSTThe appointment of the Committee was delayed by changes in the Government, but the Home Secretary is now making arrangements with the Board of Education for its immediate appointment, and it is hoped that its Report will be made before next session.
