HC Deb 08 August 1900 vol 87 c972

The following question appeared on the Paper:—

Sir WALTER FOSTER (Derbyshire, Ilkeston)

To ask the First Lord of the Treasury whether he can arrange for the early publication of the evidence given before Lord Justice Romer's Commission prior to the departure of the Commissioners for South Africa.

The Hon. Member said

I do not propose to put this question, as I have received from the right hon. Gentleman an explanation why he cannot accede to my request.

Mr. EDMUNDROBERTSON (Dundee)

Has any estimate been formed of the date on which the Report of the Commission may be expected?

The FIRST LORD OF THE TREASURY (Mr. A. J. BALFOUR,) MANCHESTER, E.

No, Sir; I have no authoritative statement, but I do not anticipate that the South African Inquiry will take a great deal of time.
