The Treasurer of the Household reported Her Majesty's Answer to the Address of the 31st day of July, as followeth:—
I thank you for your loyal and dutiful address. I unite with you in

the expression of indignation and deep concern at the tidings of the-assassination of my illustrious ally His Majesty the King of Italy, and I will not fail to convey to His Majesty's successor on the throne your sentiment of abhorrence at the perpetration of such a crime, and your sympathy with the Royal. Family of Italy, and with the Government and people of that country.
