§ MR. JOHN ROCHE (Galway, E.)
I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether he is aware that the population of the Aughrane estate, in Killeroran Division, Mount 785 Bellew Union, is 2,583, the valuation of whose holdings is only £3,330 3s.; whether he is aware that a portion of the best lands of the division are let on the eleven months system; and whether, as the Bagot estate, which is now in the Court of Chancery is to be offered for sale, will he have the division scheduled so as to enable the tenants to purchase through the Congested Districts Board.
§ The CHIEF SECRETARY for IRELAND (Mr. G. W. BALFOUR, Leeds, Central)
I have no information as to the estate referred to in the first part of the question, but as it is stated to be in an electoral division which is not scheduled as congested within the meaning of Section 36 of the 54 and 55 Viet. cap. 48, there is no legal power to extend the provisions of this enactment to the division.
