GILES (Cambridge, Wisbech)I beg to ask Mr. Attorney General whether 437 he is aware that an elector is now deprived of the right to vote by reason of his wife or other member of his family being an inmate of the County Lunatic Asylum, although he has duly made the weekly payment demanded of him, on the ground that he is in receipt of parochial relief; and whether, if such a case does not come within the Medical Relief Disqualification Removal Act, 1885, he will take steps to introduce a Bill to remove such disqualification.
§ SIR ROBERT FINLAYSo far as I am aware there is no authoritative decision that the case mentioned in the question does not come within the Medical Relief Disqualification Removal Act, 1885. There is no intention at present to propose legislation on the subject.
