§ MR. HUDSON (Hertfordshire, Hitchin)I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for War if he is aware that a feeling exists in Hertfordshire that the Bedfordshire Regiment should in future be designated as the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Regiment, as many recruits from the Herts Militia are annually drafted into that regiment; and that the badge and motto of the regiment at the present time is that of the county of Hertford; and whether the War Office will grant this alteration for the future.

WYNDHAMThis concession would give rise to a somewhat cumbrous title, and would doubtless lead to other applications of a similar character; but should it be proved that the Line battalions draw recruits in fairly equal proportions from both counties, and that a strong county feeling exists in favour of the change, the Secretary of State will be prepared to consider its advisability.
