MR. FIELD (Dublin, St. Patrick)I beg to ask Mr. Attorney General for Ireland, with respect to the working of the Inebriates Act (Ireland), whether he is aware that the prison intended for their use in Ennis is empty; and whether it is the intention of the Government to take such measures as will enable the Act to be put into practical operation.
§ MR. ATKINSONThe reply to the first paragraph is in the affirmative. Every step that the Government have been authorised to take under the Act has been taken, and it rests with the Courts to exercise the powers conferred upon them by the statute.
