I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, what is the amount of the sums which have been carried by the Treasury to a separate account under Section 13 of The Supreme Court of Judicature (Ireland) (No. 2) Act, 1897, in respect of the salaries attached to the judgeships abolished or left vacant, and the net savings in the said section mentioned.

The amount so carried up to date is, £7,563 17s. 3d., to which must be added £4,000 provided at page 501 of the current Estimates. £7,500 more will be so carried in respect of the present financial year. These amounts represent the salaries of one suppressed judgeship of the High Court and the two former Bankruptcy Judges. No net savings have as yet been realised in respect of the administrative staff.
