HC Deb 09 May 1899 vol 71 c156
MR. WALFORD GREEN (Wednesbury)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for India whether he can state the purport of the new regulations issued by the Indian Government concerning the use of Government churches in India for Presbyterian and Wesleyan services.

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR INDIA (Lord GEORGE HAMILTON,) Middlesex, Ealing

The only alteration made in the rules issued last year is defining more accurately the religious bodies who may hold service in the church in question, and in substituting in the appeal from a Bishop's decision the authority of the Metropolitan for that of the joint authority of the Bishop and the civil or military power. In all other respects the rules remain unchanged.
