I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, with reference to the applications to fix fair rent in the counties of Armagh and Down, whether he will state the number of such applications made to the county court judge, and also the number made to the Land Commission Court in each county since the 1st day of May 1898, and also the number disposed of by either court in each county.

The number of fair rent applications received by the Land Commissioners in the period men- tioned was 2,074 from the County Armagh (inclusive of four cases transferred from the Civil Bill Court) and 1,418 from the County Down. The number of applications disposed of by the Commissioners in the same period was 2,258 cases from Armagh, and 1,606 from Down. As regards applications to Civil Bill Courts, the number received in Armagh was six, and the number disposed of in that county two, the other four cases having been transferred to the Land Commission. No applications were received or disposed of by the Civil Bill Court in Down within the period stated.
