HC Deb 08 May 1899 vol 71 c35
CAPTAIN NORTON (Newington, W.)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he can state what steps, if any, have been taken to carry out the promise given by the Home Secretary in 1890 with respect to lodging allowance for members of the Metropolitan Police Force serving in town divisions.

* THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE HOME DEPARTMENT (Sir M. WHITE RIDLEY,) Lancs., Blackpool

I am not aware of any promise such as is suggested having been given by any predecessor of mine, and I am afraid I do not see my way to give any such promise now.
