HC Deb 27 March 1899 vol 69 cc492-3
MR. WEIR

I beg to ask the Lord Advocate if he will state what quantity of seed potatoes has been given by the Congested Districts Board for distribution this year, and will he name the townships to which they have been distributed; and will he state at what price seed potatoes have been sold by the board, and the description of potato?

MR. GRAHAM MURRAY

In reply to the first paragraph of the Question, I am informed by the Congested Districts Board that in pursuance of the policy publicly announced, no seed potatoes have this year been given free of cost. In reply to the second paragraph, I am also informed that about 300 tons of potatoes Lave, up to this date, been sold at cost price through local committees who had complied with the conditions laid down in notices published in each congested district. If the honourable Member wishes to have copies of these notices they shall be supplied to him.
