HC Deb 23 March 1899 vol 69 c146
MR. HOGAN (Tipperary, Mid.)

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether a modus vivendi has been arrived at in the matter of the Alaskan border pending a permanent settlement of the question; and whether any information has reached the Foreign Office concerning collisions arising out of this disputed border?

MR. BRODRICK

A proposal has been made by the United States Government, and is under consideration, for a modus vivendi in the matter of the Alaskan boundary. The answer to the second portion of the Question is in the negative.
